The company that owned the ship that sank in the Mediterranean has spoken out about the causes of the incident.

The Ursa Mayor sank as a result of a terrorist attack.

This was stated by representatives of the Oboronlogistics group of companies, RIA Novosti reports.

They deny speculation that the ship was overloaded and sank because of this.

Oboronlogistics emphasized that this is one of the largest dry cargo ships in the Russian Federation.

Therefore, the version about overload does not correspond to reality.

Crew members reported three successive explosions on the starboard side in the aft area.

Then the ship listed to starboard at 25°. This means that the ship's spaces began to fill with water.

Representatives of Oboronlogistics believe that the sinking of the Ursa Mayor was the result of a planned terrorist attack.

As a result of the incident, two crew members went missing.

Fourteen people were rescued.

The incident occurred 12 days after leaving the port of St. Petersburg. The ship was heading to Vladivostok.
