A previously convicted villager keeps dozens of people in fear.
Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation, spoke about the situation on her Telegram channel.
The human rights activist received an appeal from residents of the villages of Tinyakovo and Kapustino in the Kaluga region.
"We fear for our lives! Protect us from a repeat offender-murderer!" the villagers' letter reads.
People began to worry about their safety because of a fellow villager who received the nickname "Misha Chikatilo".
He previously served time for the murder of his father and brother. He is considered a repeat offender because of suspicions that he may be involved in the murder of two more people.
According to Merkacheva, two corpses were found in his house this year. The man was punished only for using the bank card of one of the deceased.
The human rights activist added that the man himself buried the second body in the garden behind the toilet.
Merkacheva noted that the investigation is aware of all these circumstances, but there is no evidence of a crime.
She believes that this situation should be looked into better and the villagers should be reassured: "I sent inquiries to the Kaluga Region Department of Internal Affairs and the regional prosecutor's office. We have not received any answers yet."
