A 55-year-old resident of the Leningrad region died from blood loss.

A man was scratched by a domestic cat, which subsequently resulted in death.

Izvestia reports this, citing the widow and neighbor of the deceased.

The man said that the ambulance took a very long time to arrive, even the police arrived at the scene faster.

Because of this, it was not possible to save the Russian. He literally bled to death.

The widow added that the cat was not to blame for what happened.

She explained that her husband had problems with blood clotting. Even a small cut could have led to a tragic outcome.

The cat accidentally scratched the man, causing bleeding that could not be stopped, and the ambulance still did not arrive.

The deceased's neighbor clarified that the cat had caught an artery in his leg with its claw.

For reference

A cat is a domestic animal, one of the most popular (along with a dog) “companion animals”.
