An elderly woman who killed two grandchildren has been arrested after a quarter of a century.
This was reported on Tuesday, September 24, on the Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Irkutsk Region.
The crime was committed in 1999 in Irkutsk. Law enforcement officers found the bodies of two children in the apartment with signs of violent death.
The investigation established that the killer was their grandmother, who by that time had gone on the run and was put on the wanted list.
She managed to hide until 2024. In August, the woman showed up at the police station in Simferopol. She filed an application to restore her passport.
The police found out from their database that this citizen had been wanted since 1999. At the time of her arrest, she was 77 years old.
An additional genetic examination was conducted, which dispelled all doubts. Law enforcement confirmed that it was the grandmother who killed her two grandchildren with particular cruelty.
The criminal was detained and the investigation was resumed.
