Former commander of the 58th Army Ivan Popov was transferred from pretrial detention to house arrest.
It is emphasized that the said decision was made by judge of the 235th Garrison Military Court, Ilya Romanenkov.
The court ruled: “The petition of the Russian Investigative Committee is to be granted,” as reported by RIA Novosti .
The defendant's house arrest has been set until October 11 of this year, 2024.
It was previously reported that Popov is accused of organizing and executing fraudulent schemes.
Court decision
In May of the same year, it was emphasized that the 235th Garrison Military Court refused to satisfy a similar petition.
The prosecutor's office opposed the corresponding initiative.
Ivan Popov was involved in fraud, involving the theft of funds on an especially large scale. The defendant used his official position to carry out his fraud.
The detainee is accused of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
