Fifth-graders were taken to hospital with signs of poisoning.
The likely "culprit" of what happened could be a pencil.
The incident took place in school No. 2 in the village of Chermen (North Ossetia), TASS reports.
During a math lesson in the fifth grade, the kids were drawing a line segment.
The teacher asked the children to get their pencils. One of the schoolgirls pulled out a plastic pencil from her pencil case, which emitted a sharp, unpleasant smell.
It spread throughout the class and several children soon began to feel unwell.
Four schoolchildren ended up in hospital. The children complained of headaches and nausea.
While doctors are working with the children, specialists have arrived at the school.
All relevant departments have taken control of the situation.
