A high-ranking former FSB officer was released in the courtroom.
Former deputy head of the FSB's "K" department, Dmitry Frolov, was released from punishment.
He was convicted in a case involving receiving a bribe of 87 million rubles, TASS reports.
The lawyer for the former FSB employee reported that the appellate court overturned the guilty verdict of the 2nd Western District Military Court.
The criminal prosecution was terminated. The reason given was the expiration of the statute of limitations.
After the verdict was announced, Frolov was released in the courtroom.
The defense attorney for the former intelligence officer emphasized that there are currently no sentences against his client that would find him guilty under the Criminal Code article.
Frolov retained the right to receive a military pension. In addition, he is still a reserve colonel and has state awards received during his service.
The lawyer also reported that only his client's sentence was overturned as part of the appeal.
