Former Deputy Minister of Energy Anatoly Yanovsky was detained in Moscow.
He was suspected of large-scale theft while holding a leadership position.
It turns out that more than ten apartments are registered in his wife’s name, RBC writes.
Yanovsky worked in the ministry for more than 20 years.
He also served as assistant to the head of the presidential administration.
The former deputy energy minister was detained on Wednesday following testimony from others detained in the case.
Searches were conducted at all addresses associated with Yanovsky. Documents and equipment were confiscated from his home.
In 2021, Yanovsky was dismissed from his post. During his time at the ministry, he oversaw the departments of fuel and energy complex and state energy policy.
Before retiring, he was responsible for international cooperation, coal, shale and peat industries.
After working at the ministry, he became the first vice-president of the Academy of Mining Sciences.
