Floating crane sank during storm in Kara Sea

It has become known about an accident that occurred during the storm.

A floating crane sank in the Kara Sea, an investigation is underway.

The Eastern Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported this on its Telegram channel.

According to the department, the incident occurred on Thursday.

Due to the raging elements in the Yenisei Gulf, where the Chaika marine terminal is located, two floating cranes were damaged.

The damage was so severe that one of the cranes sank.

The second one was saved because the leak was fixed in time.

The Investigative Committee took control of the incident. A criminal case was opened under the article on violation of the rules for the operation of water transport.

Investigators and forensic experts arrived at the scene of the incident to determine the circumstances that led to the flooding of the crane.

The Russian Investigative Committee emphasized that there is no danger to the environment and that no oil spill occurred as a result of the incident.
