A resident of Cheboksary lost a large sum of money due to a scam by fraudsters.
The attackers managed to deceive the female professor.
Details were reported by the press service of the Cheboksary City Department of Internal Affairs.
The victim contacted the police on October 28. She reported that unknown individuals had contacted her via messenger about a month ago.
They asked the woman to provide a code from a message, supposedly to renew the contract for using the subscriber number.
Then the Russian woman began to receive calls one after another from a “representative of the State Services portal,” a “Central Bank employee,” and an “FSB employee.”
Pretending to be employees of various departments, the criminals managed to steal more than 11 million rubles. They convinced the woman that her account on Gosuslugi had been hacked.
A resident of Cheboksary sold a foreign car, cashed out her savings and took out a loan, following the instructions of the scammers. Then she transferred all the money to a "safe account."
However, the woman did not immediately contact the police. Friends found out about the situation. They convinced her to report the incident to the police.
