In South Africa, former Prasa chief engineer Daniel Mthimkhulu was sentenced to 15 years in prison for lying on his CV.
The man was reportedly responsible for passenger railways.
The BBC News agency reports: “Mtimkhulu brought false documents from foreign universities when applying for a job.”
In particular, the man indicated that he graduated from an institute in Germany and has a corresponding doctorate degree.
A high-profile case
Lying on his resume helped the now former chief engineer get his position and a good salary.
However, Mthimkhulu's fraud resulted in major losses for Prasa.
The man is said to have entered into a series of bad deals, causing Prasa to suffer significant financial losses.
An investigation was subsequently launched which revealed that Mthimkhulu had only a school education.
