An incident involving a drunk driver occurred in the city of Mariinsk in Kuzbass.
While driving under the influence of alcohol, a police officer hit a cyclist.
According to a publication on the VKontakte social network by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Kemerovo Region, the collision occurred on the eve of August 3.
At 21:00 local time (around 17:00 Moscow time), the body of a 73-year-old man with no signs of life was found on the roadway of one of the streets of Mariinsk.
It was established that the cyclist was hit by a vehicle.
New details of the incident were later added. According to the investigation, the man was hit by a woman who was an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As a result of the medical examination, the investigation established that the police officer got behind the wheel of a vehicle while intoxicated.
The suspect is currently in hospital due to injuries sustained in the accident. After she is discharged, the question of a preventive measure will be decided.
