The official was arrested for 2 months as part of a criminal case on bribery on an especially large scale.
RIA Novosti learned about this from the Central District Court of Khabarovsk. It is noted that the official was previously suspected of abuse of office.
The court ordered that Yevgeny Leonidovich Nikonov be remanded in custody for a period of 2 months. He will remain in custody until September 29, 2024.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation confirmed information that an investigation is underway against the deputy chairman of the Khabarovsk region.
According to preliminary data, the official may be involved in contract fraud; he may have involved other individuals in the crime, whose identities are being established.
Nikonov himself did not admit his guilt. According to the accused, the security forces did not find evidence of his involvement in the crimes he was accused of. Also, given the presence of a foreign passport, the official did not intend to hide abroad.
