It has become known about an emergency that occurred in the Chelyabinsk region.
The dam located at the Kialim reservoir burst.
This fact was confirmed to RIA Novosti by the press service of the administration of the Karabash district, where the emergency occurred.
The department also confirmed the fact that the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees are working at the site of the breakthrough.
According to preliminary data, there may be about 200 people in the flooded area.
The following settlements were under threat:
- Kialim village;
- Mukhametovo village;
- village of Baidashevo;
- village of Karasevo.
It is in this direction that the huge masses of water released as a result of the washout of the 100-meter-long dam are moving. Then the water masses will end up in the Argazin reservoir.
It is noted that local weather forecasters had previously warned about the bad weather. Experts predicted thunderstorms with showers and hail.
Experts have not ruled out that prolonged rains will cause rivers in the Chelyabinsk region to overflow their banks and could lead to flooding of populated areas.
