During an interdepartmental operation, an attempt to escape by extremist prisoners was prevented.
Details were reported on the Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The incident occurred in men's correctional colony No. 6, which is located in the village of Mirny in the Varnavinsky district.
The Investigative Committee, FSB, FSIN and Ministry of Internal Affairs officers neutralized three convicts who were planning an escape.
Extremist literature, manuscripts, and bladed weapons were confiscated from them.
While in prison, the convicts tried to join an extremist organization that has been banned in the Russian Federation since 2010.
Now these convicts have been transferred to a pretrial detention facility. They face additional punishment under three criminal articles.
According to investigators, in August-September 2024, the defendants created an escape plan and prepared weapons to escape, but law enforcement officers acted ahead of the curve.
