A Chinese citizen will appear in court in Primorye on charges of smuggling.
According to investigators, the defendant in the case sent the Far Eastern trepang back to its homeland.
As reported by the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office on its official website , the value of the goods illegally shipped abroad was estimated at 1 million rubles.
The Chinese woman has been charged with smuggling, and the case has been sent to the Nakhodka City Court, where it is expected to be heard on the merits soon.
Circumstances of the case
As the prosecutor's office established, the defendant in the case was engaged in illegal activities from April to June 2022.
During searches at the woman’s place of residence, homemade boiled and dried trepang was discovered, as well as equipment for preparing it using the boiled and dried method.
It is noted that the trepang, which is also called a sea cucumber, is an invertebrate animal. Due to its healing properties, it is now on the verge of complete destruction by humans.
