A criminal posing as a law enforcement officer deceived a pensioner out of 22 million rubles.

The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for St. Petersburg reported the incident on its Telegram channel.

It is noted that the victim filed a corresponding statement with law enforcement agencies the day before.

According to the 71-year-old man, on November 5, he was contacted by a fraudster who introduced himself as a police officer. The fraudster assured the pensioner that someone was trying to steal money from his account.

In this regard, he convinced the elderly man to empty the account and hand over the money to a courier he would send to him. As a result, the pensioner did just that, losing more than 22 million rubles.

It is noted that the impressive sum was handed over to the courier over the course of several days. The pensioner met with the alleged law enforcement officer at the front entrance to his home.

The identity of the fraudsters who robbed the gullible pensioner is still unknown. Law enforcement officers have opened a criminal case on fraud.
