The world's oldest man has died just months after setting the record.
World record holder John Alfred Tinniswood of Britain died on Monday aged 112 in a nursing home in Southport.
Tinniswood officially received the title after he was presented with the coveted Guinness World Records award in April this year, the Mirror reported.
At over 100 years old, he was one of the UK's supercentenarians.
Tinniswood died on Monday at the nursing home where he had been living for the last time. His family confirmed he was surrounded by love and care.
The future record holder and long-liver was born on August 26, 1912. He became a widower almost 40 years ago in 1986 after 44 years of marriage to his wife.
He is survived by his daughter Susan, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
After receiving his Guinness World Record in April, Tinniswood said he attributed his longevity to pure luck, thanks to his active lifestyle.
Tinniswood said: "You either live long or you live short, and there's nothing you can do about it."
He also noted that he never felt his age and was not happy about it.
