Neighbors in Henan province heard screams from a little girl and boy on the air conditioner on the 23rd floor of a high-rise building on the morning of October 10, the South China Morning Post reported.
The children's mother sat nearby on the windowsill and did not allow her husband to come closer.
The children were not wearing any protective gear, and the girl was clearly crying. At the same time, the boy remained relatively calm.
Firefighters who arrived in response to a call from local residents saved the children.
A spokesman for the local Women and Children's Federation said they were investigating the case.
Police have not said whether the mother, who put her children in obvious danger, will be punished.
