The World Health Organization warns that the world is threatened by an epidemic of the Marburg virus.
Following confirmation of the first cases of the disease in Rwanda, the situation is causing serious concern.
The WHO report emphasizes that the first cases of Marburg virus infection have been recorded in Rwanda.
As of September 29, 2024, there were 26 confirmed cases, including eight deaths, according to the report.
Cases have been reported in seven of Rwanda's 30 districts. The infected patients have been taken to hospitals. 300 contacts are also being monitored.

WHO assesses the risk of this outbreak as very high at the national level, high at the regional level and low at the global level.
