WHO proposes strict restrictions on smartphone use among children and adolescents.

These measures are similar to those used to combat smoking.

They are aimed at reducing the negative impact of social networks and video games on the mental health of young people, writes Politico .

WHO experts note an increase in anxiety, depression, and declining academic performance among adolescents.

This is due to the frequent use of social media and video games.

According to WHO, every tenth teenager cannot control their use of social networks and video games.

This leads to addiction and other risks of developing mental disorders.

Natassia Azzopardi-Muscat, director of the country health policy and systems division at the WHO European office, said tough measures were needed.

She said: "We need to think about where it is appropriate to use gadgets."

She also proposed introducing age limits and price controls, as in the fight against smoking.
