On July 7, early parliamentary elections were held in France.

Voting has ended and the official election results will be announced on Monday morning.

As RIA Novosti reports, the turnout at the polling stations was record-breaking. The last time the French showed such activity was in 1981. An hour before closing, almost 60% of registered voters had already cast their ballots for candidates.

It is noted that the main struggle was divided between three French parties:

  • "National Rally", which was joined by the Republicans;
  • "New Popular Front", which included the left;
  • the coalition of the current President Emmanuel Macron "Together".

According to the results of the first round, the Macronists received only 20.04% of the votes against Le Pen's party with 33.15%.

According to preliminary data, none of the above parties could receive an absolute majority of votes.

Earlier it was reported that allies consider Macron "toxic".
