Western news agency Reuters reported that the US Department of Commerce wants to ban Chinese-assembled crossovers.
The reason is the fear of American officials about possible espionage.
Reuters , in particular, writes: “It is proposed to ban products from Lincoln and Buick, as well as Ford or General Motors.”
According to the publication, all automobile manufacturers, especially those mentioned above, will be required to stop importing vehicles from China.
Fear of the USA
Unnamed representatives of the US Department of Industry and Trade cited American legislation in their decision.
A new regulation has come into force in the United States aimed at combating hardware and software from China, officials said.
The import ban will also apply to American models assembled in Chinese factories.
Liz Cannon, the head of the Information and Communications Technology Directorate of the US Department of Industry and Commerce, also spoke on this matter.
Cannon said: "If our manufacturers want to continue selling their products in their own country, they will have to close all their factories in China."
