The US State Department said that it “understands the difficult situation” of Mongolia and therefore does not intend to take any measures against it.

Washington will continue to support Ulaanbaatar, but expects that in the future the republic will fulfill all of its international obligations.

The working visit of Vladimir Putin to Mongolia was commented on by the representative of the American department Matthew Miller, RIA Novosti reports.

He stated that the United States understands the situation the republic is in.

The official explained that Mongolia is “sandwiched” between large neighbors to the north and south (Russia and China).

Miller stressed that the United States expects Ulaanbaatar to comply with all international requirements, including UN principles.

Washington also called on Mongolia to “convey to Russia” the position of the United States and other countries on Ukraine.

Putin completed his visit to the MPR on September 3. He has already left the republic and headed to Vladivostok to participate in the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
