UN experts have predicted a decade when the planet's population will reach its peak.
Analysts made their calculations based on data from the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
The world's population will peak in the 2080s, according to the UN website . By then, the number of people living on the planet will reach 10.3 billion.
In 50-60 years the population will grow by approximately 2 billion people. By the end of the 21st century the population will decrease to 10.2 billion.
At the same time, it is expected that the average life expectancy will increase. Today, it is 73.3 years worldwide. Already in 2054, this figure will reach 77.4.
Experts are only concerned about the fact that in the second half of the 21st century the number of elderly people (over 65 years old) will increase. There will be more of them than minors on the planet.
This will have a significant impact on the economic and social spheres of many countries. This will primarily affect countries with a pronounced aging population.
