Two fighter jets collided in northeastern France.

A major air crash involving Rafale fighter jets occurred on the border of the Vosges and Meurthe-et-Moselle departments.

The Est Republicain newspaper reports that two French Air Force planes collided. This happened on Wednesday, August 14, during training flights.

One pilot ejected. He is alive but injured. The search for two more soldiers is underway. The gendarmes and the fire and rescue service are involved in the work.

The planes, according to the media, were destroyed. The extent of the damage has yet to be assessed.

It was noted that it was possible to avoid the fighter jets falling on a residential area.

Initially, it was reported that the aircraft involved were Mirage aircraft, but the French Ministry of Defense clarified that the Rafale fighters collided.

One such plane can cost a quarter of a billion dollars. In 2020, India paid $240 million per unit.
