Pastry chef Roberto Linguanotto, creator of the classic tiramisu recipe, has died.

He died in Italy after a long illness at the age of 82.

Linguanotto is known as the "father of tiramisu". He created this famous dessert while working in a restaurant in Treviso, Corriere della Sera newspaper reported.

Instead of the traditional zabaglione of egg yolks, sugar and wine, he added mascarpone cheese. This change made tiramisu truly unique.

The president of the Veneto region, Luca Zaia, expressed his condolences and noted Linguanotto's contribution to the culinary world.
