The disease has been detected in residents of 12 states located on the East Coast and in the Midwest. According to the latest data, 28 people are sick, two have died.
Experts are still investigating the source of the infection. It is assumed that the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria could have entered the body of the infected through food. In particular, meat and sausage products are being checked.
The disease is primarily dangerous for unborn children, infants and people over 60 years of age.
