The embassy reported that many counterfeit $50 and $100 dollar bills have been discovered in Turkey, RBC reports.
Owners of exchange offices and retail outlets are justifiably vigilant and often refuse to accept old-style banknotes.
Diplomats stated that the Turkish side is already taking all necessary measures to resolve this problem.
Therefore, Russians are currently advised to take only new-style banknotes with them.
Turkish authorities suspect that counterfeit dollars worth a total of $600 million were imported into the country.
