Thai authorities will begin collecting a tourist tax from foreigners.

Its size will be from 150 to 300 baht (about 411–823 rubles).

The Bangkok Post newspaper reports that the tourism minister has finally brought the initiative to fruition.

The tax scheme was first approved back in 2022. But the project never got off the ground. Now it has become known that those entering this country will have an additional amount of expenses.

The official wants to stimulate the industry with additional financial revenue.

In return, the authorities promise tourists more developed infrastructure and attractions.

They are planning to work separately on ensuring the safety of visitors.

According to the new regulation, tourists arriving by plane will have to pay more. For them, the amount will be 300 baht.

Those entering by land or sea will pay 150 baht.

Now the authorities are only thinking about when to implement the new tax. There is an option to do it before the end of the fourth quarter of 2024 or postpone it until 2025.
