In Thailand, the deputy abbot of a Buddhist temple in Mahasarakham is suspected of embezzling funds from donations.
He spent 2 million baht (about 5.7 million rubles) from donations from parishioners on his mistress.
Details of the crime became known on November 8, when the girl shared details of her affair with the monk on the Internet, Thaiger reports.
She published photographs of expensive gifts and talked about large money transfers from the rector of the church.
This was followed by a huge scandal. During the investigation, the police found out that the monk had indeed used the temple funds for his personal needs.
As a result, the monk resigned from his post. However, the temple's abbot later stated that the monk had no access to the donations.
He demanded that the monk explain where he got the money, but he refused to answer.
