An incident involving an Il-76 aircraft occurred in Syria.

The plane disappeared from radar while it was in the area of the city of Homs.

RIA Novosti reported the incident, citing data provided by the Flightradar24 portal.

According to the portal, the missing aircraft was in the air for about 40 minutes. During this time, it was moving at a speed of about 100 kilometers per hour, which is an extremely low figure for an Il-76 aircraft.

It is noted that the plane has not appeared on radar since 2:40 a.m. local time (around 5:40 a.m. Moscow time).

It is unknown who might have been on board the aircraft, or where exactly the missing flight was headed.

Reuters previously reported, citing unnamed military personnel, that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad may have left the capital amid news of militant forces entering the city.

Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali, who remained in Damascus along with several other officials, claimed that he knew nothing about the location of the Syrian head of state.
