Employees at the Hotel du Collectionneur in Paris have gone on strike after they have not received a pay raise for seven years.
They announced this when members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) were supposed to check into the hotel right before the opening of the 2024 Olympic Games, the Associated Press reports.
The organization paid 22 million euros (2 billion rubles) to obtain exclusive rights to use the facility.
The hotel workers hoped that this would finally result in a pay raise, but nothing happened. So they decided to use their right to strike.
The hotel staff went out into the hotel corridors with signs: “Luxury hotel – beggarly salary”, “Give us back our social benefits”, “No 13th salary – no Olympics”.
The hotel administration stated that work is underway with trade unions, and the hotel itself continues to accept guests.
The hotel workers' strike was announced on Friday, July 26. The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will take place on that day. The event is scheduled for 20:30 Moscow time.
