Spain has significantly outstripped other European countries in the number of cases of monkeypox infection.
Since 2022, 8,104 cases have been detected here, putting the kingdom first among European countries.
Statistics were provided on Thursday, August 15, by the Europa Pass news agency. Second place went to the Spanish neighbors, the French. They identified 4,272 cases.
The UK was ranked third, with 3,866 people falling ill in two years.
In Spain, the most sick people are in Madrid (2,770) and in the autonomous region of Catalonia (2,452). This year, 264 people have fallen ill in the kingdom.
Moreover, not only the elderly but also the young are infected. Men are more often affected, and the average age is 37 years.
Meanwhile, in Russia, experts see no reason to worry about the spread of the monkeypox virus.
