South Korean authorities have deployed a sniffer dog to search for bedbugs in the luggage of athletes and fans returning from the Paris Olympics.

The task was entrusted to a beagle nicknamed Seso, the only dog at Incheon Airport trained to detect the scent of these insects.

A sniffer dog sniffs the luggage of passengers returning from Paris to South Korea, Reuters reports.

Participation in the event is mandatory for both athletes and Koreans who traveled to the French capital as tourists or fans.

The country's government noted that there is a significant possibility that Paris bedbugs will penetrate into South Korea.

Because of this, it was decided to take preventive measures. Incheon Airport is considered the main airport in the country, so the beagle serves here.

Bedbug infestations were reported in a number of French cities at the end of 2023.

Google search analysts noted that the query about bedbugs became the most popular among the French based on the results of last year.
