A powerful earthquake has occurred in Japan, and scientists predict that another one is on the way.

Russian seismologist Ruben Tatevosyan said whether the earthquake that occurred in the area of Kyushu Island will affect Russia.

In an interview with the portal " Gazeta.Ru ", the expert said that it will not affect the territory of the Russian Federation. We are talking about Primorye and Kamchatka. There is no threat to these regions.

The seismologist noted that earthquakes are a fairly common occurrence in Japan.

A strong earthquake struck the Kyushu region on Thursday, August 8. The magnitude of the tremors was estimated at 7.1.

The epicenter was located near Miyazaki Prefecture, and the source was located at a depth of 30 km below the surface of the Pacific Ocean.

But it doesn't end there. Japanese seismologists have warned that another earthquake could hit the Nankai fault.

Its expected strength is estimated at 8-9 points. In this case, the country could be hit by prices 30 m high.
