Orkhan Sanjar, coordinator of the tour operator Pegas Touristik for the CIS, reported that Russian citizens have stopped spending money outside of all-inclusive hotels in Turkey.
According to the expert, the main reason is the problem of paying with Russian cards abroad.
Sanjar noted: “Tourists from Russia simply cannot use their own cards,” as reported by Gazeta.ru .
According to the analyst, this is one of the reasons why the hotels in the Bodrum resort are currently not fully occupied in 2024.
Assessing the situation
It is also noted that resort restaurants are practically not visited by tourists from Russia.
Sanjar added: “The situation with sanctions against Russia has dealt a serious blow to Turkish business, including the hotel industry.”
The Chairman of the Chamber of Merchants and Craftsmen of Turkey, Kemer Bolat Unsal, spoke on this issue earlier.
According to Unsal, the current tourist season has become the worst for the country in the last 27 years. Losses were mainly borne by shop owners in resorts.
