Two Russian women found themselves in a difficult situation during their stay in Antalya, Turkey.
This was reported by the vice-president of the Unified Coordination Center for Support of Compatriots Abroad, Ivan Melnikov.
He appealed to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a request to help the Russian women who were detained by Turkish police, TASS reports.
The tourists claim that they were illegally detained at the Antalya airport. Physical force was used against them.
Melnikov stated that Turkish law enforcement officers violated international norms and tried to falsify evidence that they themselves were victims of an attack by Russian women.
The court took the tourists' side. The case was reclassified as administrative, but the court did not lift the ban on leaving the country.
The Russian women have run out of money and have nowhere to live, Melnikov said.
The human rights activist hopes for the intervention of the Russian Foreign Ministry. He believes that the department will provide temporary accommodation and speed up the process of returning the tourists to their homeland.
