A native of Saratov spoke about city management in Colombia.

In October 2023, Mikhail Krasnov won the mayoral elections in the city of Tunja with a population of about 168 thousand people.

The politician complained that his predecessor took out a loan and drowned the town in debt.

Krasnov said that the previous mayor left behind debts of 93 billion pesos (about 2.1 billion rubles), RIA Novosti writes.

During his time in power, Krasnov managed to return a quarter of this amount. In 2025, the mayor expects to pay another 27 billion pesos.

In addition, the politician had to deal with the bloated administrative apparatus. He carried out municipal reform and was able to optimize expenses.

Krasnov has lived in Colombia for about 15 years. The Russian speaks 6 languages and has four master's degrees in different fields.

Before winning the election, the man taught economics at local universities.

The mayoral candidate drove around the city in an old Fiat that had been repainted and covered with cartoonish images and the words "El Russo" (Russian) and "Professor".
