The maritime authority in the Spanish autonomous community of Galicia said it had ordered the Russian frigate Shtandart to leave Spanish territorial waters.
It is emphasized that today the ship is experiencing difficulties in moving to EU ports due to anti-Russian sanctions.
In addition, it is explained that the Shtandart was located near the shores of the settlement of La Isla de Arousa, as reported by TASS .
Local law enforcement agencies noted that the frigate crossed the borders of Spain illegally.
Demand to retreat
The captain of the ship, Vladimir Martus, also commented on this situation.
According to Martus, he was first refused entry into the port of Vigo, Galicia. After that, he had no opportunity to plot a new route.
The captain of the Shtandart explained that due to a shortage of provisions he ordered the frigate to be anchored.
In addition, Martus pointed out the presence of a technical malfunction of the vessel, which can only be resolved by purchasing new spare parts.
