The International Skating Union (ISU) has decided to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to qualify for the Olympics.
Athletes may qualify for Olympic qualification as neutrals.
The ISU has allowed Russian athletes to participate in the qualification for the 2025/2026 Olympic Games, subject to maintaining neutral status, the International Skating Union said in a statement.
The International Skating Union organizes competitions in figure skating, short track speed skating and speed skating.
The Russian Figure Skating Federation of Russia and the Russian Skating Union can now present one athlete in each type of figure skating program.
Russians are expected to be able to take part in speed skating and short track.
The ISU is currently focused on the selection process for the 2026 Milan Olympic Games.
It is quite possible that Russians and Belarusians will have the opportunity to participate in other competitions during the Olympic season.
The final decision will be made at the ISU Council meeting in March 2025 after the World Championships in Boston.
