The diplomats officially sent a note to the Turkish side. The Consulate General also interacts with local competent authorities and consults Russian citizens on key issues.
The Russian diplomatic mission is doing everything to prevent the women from being sent to a local prison. A note was sent for this purpose, RIA Novosti reports.
In June, the two Russian women had their initial trial. During the trial, the court found that the women had resisted border control officers and had caused bodily harm to an official.
The proceedings are ongoing. The Russian women have been banned from leaving Turkey until the court makes a decision. The Consulate General is trying to return the women to their homeland.
Last month, a skirmish broke out between two Russian women and Antalya airport staff.
The women claim that border control officers brutally beat them and even pulled out their fingernails. The Turkish side claims that the tourists themselves started the fight at the airport.
Diplomats are monitoring the situation and maintaining contact with the women themselves and their relatives.
