A senator from the Zaporizhia region commented on the situation with the Wagner PMC fighters located in Mali.
Dmitry Rogozin called for the “liberation of Russian citizens from Basmachi captivity.”
In his Telegram channel, the Federation Council member stated the need for the return of living Wagner mercenaries to the Russian Federation.
The senator separately pointed out that care should be taken to return the bodies of the fallen soldiers and organize a funeral with full honors.
“The living should be returned to their homeland and accepted as heroes,” Rogozin said.
The situation with PMC "Wagner" in Mali
On Sunday, July 28, Reuters and Associated Press news agencies released a statement from representatives of the rebel movement operating in the northern African state of Mali.
It claimed that on July 25-26, in northern Mali, near the border with Algeria, Tuareg rebels defeated a paramilitary column consisting of Malian soldiers and Wagner PMC fighters.
The defeated side is said to have suffered heavy losses, with some soldiers surrendering. The Wagner PMC confirmed that the battle took place and lasted from July 22 to 27.
Moreover, not only rebels but also members of a radical group, which is banned in the Russian Federation and included in the list of terrorist groups, participated in the skirmish against them.
