Poland has said it is ready to arrest the Israeli prime minister if he visits in January.
The authorities of the republic will comply with the demand of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In a month, Poland will hold a ceremony dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, the Jerusalem Post writes.
The camp in Auschwitz became synonymous with the genocide of Jews, Slavs, and Gypsies.
Therefore, representatives from different countries, including Israel, traditionally participate in such events.
A ceremony to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation is planned for January 27.
Netanyahu, as Israel's prime minister, is expected to attend the event.
But recently it became known that the Polish authorities will arrest Netanyahu under the warrant issued by the ICC. This statement was made by the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Because of this, Netanyahu has cancelled his visit. Education Minister Yoav Kisch will go instead.
The ICC issued a warrant not only for the Israeli Prime Minister.
The country's former defense minister, Yoav Galant, is also to be arrested.
They are accused of a series of crimes against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
