A mysterious brain disease is spreading rapidly in Canada.
New Brunswick Provincial Governor Susan Holt has asked the Federal Health Agency to look into what is happening.
The number of cases in her region has reached several hundred and continues to grow. The National Post shared the details.
Symptoms of the disease include anxiety, trouble sleeping, as well as pain in the arms and legs, spasms and hallucinations.
According to Holt, the disease most often affects people under 45.
In some cases, the disease progresses rapidly and leads to severe exhaustion.
New Brunswick neurologist Alier Marrero has seen hundreds of such patients in recent years.
In some cases, the disease is fatal. Holt said 40 people have died in her province and 400 have reported similar symptoms.
Scientists are still unable to accurately identify, diagnose and treat the mysterious disease.
Holt stressed that the number of recorded cases significantly exceeds normal levels.
