Monkeypox cases increase in DR Congo

An unpleasant event related to a disease has occurred in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In this case, we are talking about the disease mpox or monkeypox.

This disease originated in the DR Congo. It is spreading rapidly, causing deaths. Details are reported by TASS with reference to the Minister of Communications and Media Affairs of the DRC Patrick Muyaiya Katembwe.

It is noted that the death toll currently stands at 450, while the number of cases is 11,166.

According to the AFP minister, the epicentre of the disease was the Equator region.

In addition, the form of the pathogen that caused the mpox outbreak in the DRC remains unknown at this time. Last spring, a new strain of mpox was found in the country, which caused an epidemic in 2022.

Mpox is a rare disease that occurs in Africa. The first case of the disease was identified in 1970. The virus can be transmitted from animals to humans, causing health problems.
