MiG-29 fighter crashes in India

A military plane has crashed in northwest India.

The incident occurred on Monday, September 2, in the state of Rajasthan.

The Indian Air Force's MiG-29 fighter jet was used as part of a "routine night training exercise," the IAF said.

During the flight, a critical malfunction was discovered. It was impossible to fix the situation, so the pilot ejected.

The serviceman survived. An investigation has been launched into the incident. The exact causes of the fighter crash are being determined.

The plane crashed in an uninhabited area and did not cause additional damage to infrastructure on the ground.

The MiG-29 is a 4th generation fighter. The aircraft was developed in the USSR in the 1970s.

The aircraft has many modifications. The "B" and "K" versions were previously exported to a number of countries, including India. The country owns more than 80 MiG fighters.
