One person has died and 49 have fallen ill after a major E. coli outbreak linked to Quarter Pounder burgers.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the outbreak has spread to 10 Western states, Le Monde reports.
Most of the 49 poisoning cases were reported in Colorado and Nebraska.
Following the announcement, shares of the fast-food chain fell sharply by more than 6% in trading.
The health agency said in a statement that dozens of people, including a child, were taken to hospital.
Doctors diagnosed the victims with hemolytic uremic syndrome, a serious disease that damages blood vessels and kidneys.

All victims were found to have the same strain of E. coli.
