Rescuers found the man about 30 miles off the coast of Florida clinging to a refrigerator that was bobbing in the waves.
The rescued man was taken to a Tampa hospital for medical treatment.
The hospital is not commenting on the patient's condition.
Coast Guard spokeswoman Nicole Groll would not release the identity of the rescued man.
