Man survives bear fight by following advice from news report.

The incident occurred in Anderson Flats Provincial Park in British Columbia, Canada.

The Canadian was riding his bike through the park, CBS reports, when a female grizzly bear emerged from the forest, followed by her cubs.

The female perceived the cyclist as a threat, so she rushed at him. The man defended himself from the bear's claws and teeth with his bicycle.

But this improvised shield helped only in the first seconds. The animal was determined to finish what it had started. The bear stubbornly continued to roar and attack the Canadian.

Then the man remembered hearing a story on the radio news about a man who punched a bear in the nose and forced the predator to retreat.

There was no time to think, so the Canadian hit the animal on the nose with all his might. And it helped. The bear was disoriented and stopped attacking for a while.

At that moment, the man got on his bike and started pedaling as hard as he could. He rode to the exit of the reserve. There, he was met by other tourists who took him to the hospital.

The Canadian escaped with minor injuries that did not pose any threat to his life.
